RE: buffalo spree

Hi People,
Buffalo Spree Magazine is having their Best of Buffalo survey. In case you haven't heard of Buffalo Spree, it's kinda like Artvoice, except it's real shiny, they deliver it to your house, and you have to pay for it. Anyway, the voting is about the same. If you go to www.buffalospree.com and answer a billion or so questions (you don't have to answer that many), you can vote for Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields as best rock group, Tom Stahl as best solo guy, and Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields' "King of the World" as best album. I will not seek...nor will I accept... my party's nomination for best pizza. There's plenty of room for creativity though...best reason to stay in Buffalo.....Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields...etc. As always, these things are only important if we win. Win or lose, rain or shine, come hell or high water, Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields will continue to do their best. Although, it would be nice to win something from a shiny magazine...I haven't won anything from a shiny magazine since that thermos from Sports Illustrated....Tell everyone you know to vote for us....like I ask so much....I give and I give....voting closes July 10th...Here's what were doing the first week of July.

Most sincerely,

Tom Stahl

RE: Best Of Artvoice

Tom Stahl and the Dangerfield fans have once again, to the annoyance of the editors at Artvoice, placed Tom and the Boys in the top five for the several music categories:

Best Male Vocalist: Tom Stahl

Best Folk/Bluegrass Act: Tom Stahl

Best Rock Act: Tom Stahl & the Dangerfields

Another notable entry is our good friend Alison Pipitone in the best female vocalist category. (Bear in mind that the Dangerfields can be spiteful and jealous, but seeing as no one in the band was eligible for this category we are genuinely pleased for Alison!)

The winners will be announced Monday, 4/14 at the Town Ballroom 6 to 9 pm

Well, thanks a lot.  It's bad enough that my mother dies, but then you people have to rub it in with your prayers and cards and kind words and what not.  You must think you're sooooooooo special.  So do I.  On behalf of Stahls and friends of Mom everywhere, I thank you from the bottom of our cracked little hearts.

It was Mom's dying wish that everyone buy all my CDs or download my songs from I-tunes...........That's not really true........ she wanted everyone to vote for me in the Artvoice "Best of Buffalo" thing........Again, I may not have heard her correctly........I think she said go hear me play solo at to the Peopleart Coffee house........Actually, she said she was tired and ready to go home and to be good to each other...... thanks for being good to me and mine, be good to you and yours.

He has suffered a diffuse axonal injury from the severe head trauma of the accident as well as being left unattended at the scene of the accident for close to two hours. Brian started his recovery in England and has since traveled back to Buffalo, N.Y. by a special medical plane. The family is confident that he will make a full recovery however this will be a very long and expensive rehabilitation process.

RE: this weekend

This Friday, March 14th, Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields are back at Alternative Brews on Sheridan Dr. near Sweet Home Rd.  for the happy hours of 6 p.m. to something.  Spyboy says it's going to be a smoking show because you're allowed to smoke at Alternative Brews.

Then on Saturday, March 15th, I'll be playing solo at a benefit for Molly "BEANS" Duszynski.  The Beans has been having some health problems and this beer blast is to help cover some of the mounting medical bills.  The benefit is from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. which includes open bar and draft Molson until 10:00 and cash bar after that, there will also be food for all.  Also, a Chinese auction for some great baskets.  The cost is $25.00.

Location is the Cobblestone Bar, 130 South Park Ave., Buffalo.

Also, if you didn't do so yet, there's still time to vote in the Artvoice "Best of Buffalo" thing by going to

RE: Tom Stahl & the Dangerfields Friday 6:00 at Alternative Brews

Tom Stahl & the Dangerfields

will play a smoking show at Alternative Brews

on Friday, March 14 from 6:00 to 10:00

Now, before you think I am bragging about the quality of the band let me clarify; Alternative Brews is a cigar bar and one of the few establishments in town with legal smoking. Hence it will quite literally be a smoking show. Oh, I suppose the music will be of an acceptable quality and worth the trip to lovely 3488 Sheridan Drive in Amherst, New York, located between Millersport Highway and Sweet Home Road, but I don't want to be seen as overstating the Dangerfields' case.

RE: AV awards

Tomorrow, (or today depending on when you get this) Friday, Feb. 22,  the Dangerfields and I are playing the Happy Hours at Alternative Brews starting at 6:00 p.m.  Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

In other news, it's time for the Artvoice Best of Buffalo Awards.  Again, you have to answer in at least 30 categories, but you don't have to do it in one sitting.  Of course I don't want to sway you one way or another but for Best Rock Band I voted for Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields, Best Folk/Jug Band/Cajun/Bluegrass/others, I voted for Tom Stahl. I'm pretty folky when I'm by my lonesome.  Besides, they keep dropping categories I win in.  In 2006, I was voted Best Entertainer.  In 2007, no such category.  In 2007, I was voted Best Acoustic Dude.  In 2008, category eliminated.   Finally, for Best Male Vocalist I voted for Tom Stahl.  I sing good.  Remember, these awards are only important if I win.  Here's the link if you're so inclined.  I'm not sure I'm qualified, but I wouldn't mind being voted Best Pizza either.

RE: nominations and such

Here's what is what. If you're going to the Sabres game Friday, stop and see us at Pearl Street. If you're out voting on Tuesday (and you should be), stop and see us at Rhino's in Orchard Park. Speaking of voting, Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields were nominated for a Buffalo Music Award under the category of "Best Original Band" and Gary Kowalski Dangerfield was nominated for "Best Original Drummer." Our friend Kate Engler is nominated in the Blues category for "Best Female Vocalist" and her band is nominated for "Best Crossover Blues Band." You might even have other local favorites nominated. This year, voting is open to the public and it's actually pretty easy. First, go to this web site http://bestofwny.com/bma/index.php?sid=2&newtest=Y, then give them your email. They'll send you an official okey dokey email saying you can start voting. And here's the best part, you don't have to vote in every single category. You can go right to our categories and vote for us. Let the others fend for themselves. After all, it's an honor just to be nominated. So, if you'd like to save some time, vote for us and let everyone else be honored. Remember, winning is only important if you win. If we don't win, I don't want to talk about it.

RE: OUR BAR GIG CANCELLED

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Our Bar gig this Saturday, October 20th, ain't gonna happen. It's canceled. It's a non-event. The lights will be on , but the Dangerfields won't be home. Actually, some sort of scheduling conflict with a surprise birthday party. If I thought for a moment it was my party, I'd be there. It's not though. I asked. So, if you do go there, don't tell anyone you're going because it might be their party. Or maybe it's your party and you think you're just going to see the Dangerfields, but you won't because it's your surprise party instead and we won't be there because of the scheduling conflict with your surprise party. RE: august 4th

DUN DU DU DUN DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNN. That was trumpets and all kinds of fanfare put into words.....I mean letters.

This Saturday, August 4, 2007, Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields will be playing at the Molson Canal Series in North Tonawanda at Gateway Park near the canal on a stage under the lights during broad daylight with the lights off followed by the Great Train Robbery and Three Dog Night (I think it's only two out of three dogs). The show starts at precisely 5:30 p.m. and we're only playing for 45 minutes. If you plan on being fashionably late, you just might miss us and then you'll be sad and then I'll be sad and then the Dangerfields will be sad and so on and so on.

However, if you are fashionably late and you do miss us, you could stand there and chant, "We want the Dangerfields! We want the Dangerfields!" until your sides hurt. I don't think they'll let us play any longer, but it might make you feel glad and then I'll be glad and then the Dangerfields will be glad and so on and so on and so on that note, I hope you can make it ....on time.

RE: MEMORIAL PARK PAVILION

We are pleased to announce "An Evening At The Village Pavilion" with Tom Stahl And The Dangerfields on Thursday, August 9th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Memorial Park Pavilion in the Village of Hamburg. This will hopefully be the first of many appearances at the Pavilion.  The band has obtained a permit for the Pavilion from the Village of Hamburg to provide an evening of original music.  This is the band’s way of bringing local music back to Thursday night. This event is being sponsored by a local Hamburg business, GF Brooks Associates [A Registered Mortgage Broker, NYS Banking Department] located on Main Street in the Village.  Coolers are welcome but the Village does not permit alcoholic beverages in the Village park. If you have never been to Memorial Park, it is a 2.3 acre park located on Lake & Union Streets in the Village of Hamburg.  It features a Memorial Pathway which has engraved pavers that residents can purchase as a remembrance for their loved ones. This is a great location for a concert. Special thanks to Jerry Brooks, Jr. for sponsoring this event and making it possible.  I also want to thank Tom & Dawn Kirchmeyer, Paul Gaughan [Village of Hamburg Trustee] & Dorothy Marrelli [Deputy Clerk, Village of Hamburg] for their assistance.

RE: Dangerfields at Nietzsche's Allentown Art Fest Sunday 5 PM

Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields return to Nietzsche's Allentown Art

Festival* Musical Celebration on Sunday, 6/10 at 5PM!

Nietzsche's is located at 248 Allen Street, just outside of the Art

Festival's boundaries.

*The Nietzsche's show is not affiliated with the actual Allentown Art

Festival in any way. The Allentown Art Festival committee frowns on anyone

actually enjoying themselves with music during their precious display of

art and trinkets. They cannot stop Nietzsche's from going about their

normal business of presenting music and this probably drives them a bit

crazy. We like being a part of that.

RE: summer gigs

Hello good people of WNY. Here's what we have lined up for the summer so far.

First a benefit. After several years of mission work in Haiti, Kim Schmoyer is adopting 2 boys from the orphanage there. This benefit is to help defray the cost of getting little Franc (7 yrs.) and Papouch (6 yrs) to their new home. Then it's Sunday during Allentown Arts Festival at Nietzsche's and our first happy hour at the Pearl Street Brewery and Burgerfest and Molson Canal Series and Artpark and the Blue Lantern and the list goes on and on. Check it out [www.tomstahlandthedangerfields.com/gigs-info.html].

Obviously, the turnout for the Our Bar gig was not sufficient enough to push the Sabres to the finals. I warned you. Please, don't let the same thing happen to the Bills. Support your Dangerfields and get guaranteed wins for all your favorite sports teams.

A follow up to my announcement about Saturday's show. The Our Bar is a great place to watch the Sabres.

RE: Sabres Rule

This Saturday, May 12, Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields return to the Our Bar on Military Rd. in Kenmore for an 8:00 p.m. show. Now, you may have heard there's also a little hockey game starting at that time. Not to fear. The Our Bar is actually more of a sports bar than a music club. They have a bunch of TVs including at least one enormous gigantic screen. The Dangerfields are big Sabre fans and plan on playing "around" the game. In fact, when the Dangerfields play at the Our Bar in front of a big crowd, the Sabres always win. So, if you're a real Sabre fan and want to see them win, you'll be at the Our Bar watching the Sabres and listening to the Dangerfields. If you're not there, the Sabres will lose and the City of Buffalo will crumble and fall into Lake Erie and I will say, "I told you so!"

Go Sabres,

"Saturday, March 3rd at 9:00 p.m., Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields will be
back at the OUR BAR on Military Rd. near Kenmore Ave. in the Village of

Dangerfield song at 716.362.1077
Or you can contact them at www.1077thelake.com

"Buffalo's Best Entertainer of 2006" is rapidly coming to an end. But
soft, what light through yonder window breaks. You probably thought it was
Juliet, but it's not. It's time for Artvoice's 2007 Best of Buffalo

don't mean that much to a person's standing in the
community..........................unless you win. And I want to win
soooooooo bad. Please, please, please, please! I've tasted victory and it
is sweet. I'm begging you to go to www.artvoice.com  and vote for Tom Stahl
and the Dangerfields in any category you deem appropriate; best
entertainer, best band, best vocal, best musician. Maybe there could be a
write-in ballot for best songwriter. I don't care. It's not really that
important. Whether I win or lose, I'll continue to enter and tain the good
people of Planet Earth. It's what I do.

RE: what

Here's what is what. This Sunday, January 28th in East Aurora, I, Tom Stahl will be playing solo at the 30th Anniversary Party of the Blizzard of '77. It's free to get in, but there will be some raffles to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of East Aurora. It starts at 3:30 p.m. and I'll probably be on around four or so. It's being held at the East End Grill which is located at 701 Main St. in East Aurora, across the street from Vidler's.

And don't forget about the Winter Dance Party in Hennessey Hall at Infant of Prague Church on Friday, February 2. Doors open at 7:30, Dangerfields at 8:00p.m. $15 gets you all the beer, wine, snacks and Dangerfields you can handle. You don't have to belong to the parish. You don't even have to be Catholic. Of course, your non-Catholicness makes you ineligible for heaven. Sorry, not my rules. Hope you can make it......Infant of Prague and heaven.....in that order.

RE: gigs and thigs

I did not spell things wrong.  I meant to say thigs.

For those of you out that way, I'll be at the Clarence Center Coffee House on Saturday the Jan. 13th at 8:00 p.m.

On Sunday, the 14th, the Dangerfields and I will play about an hour set at a benefit for an old friend, Eddie Marszak.  The benefit is to help defray medical costs and will be held at Macaroons (that might be how you spell it) in Cheektowaga (Cayuga Rd. near George Urban Blvd.) from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.  We'll be on about 3:30 p.m.

On Friday, Feb. 2 , Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields will be playing what seems to be an old fashioned church social  (otherwise known as a dance).  The dance takes place in the Infant of Prague Church Gym from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  IOP is located on Cleveland Dr. right next to the Thruway in Cheektowaga.  Tickets for this event are $15 and include beer (last time I was there, they had Labatts and this incredible micro brew), wine, pop, snacks and Dangerfields.  This one has the potential of being too much fun.  There's just something about a Catholic Church that has it's own bowling lanes and homemade beer.  You can get tickets at the door or through your friendly neighborhood Dangerfield.

RE: tonight Oct. 18th

I hope all are weathering the storm.  We now have power and internet and a gig tonight at Nietzsche's.  It's a song circle kinda thing.  That's when three or four songwriters (in this case four), sit in a circle (or semi-circle) (or straight line) and trade songs.  They call it the Fantastic Four and tonight I am one of them along with Dee Adams, Rose Bond and Rob Falgiano.  I hope you can make it.  It starts at 8:00 p.m. and goes 'til 11:00 p.m.  If you don't until after the gig because you don't have power, it was great and we missed you.

RE: Friday at Nietzsche's

Thanks to everyone who made it to Thursday at the Square.  It was a fine time had by Stahl.  Speaking of me.  I'll be playing the Nietzsche's twilight show this Friday, September 15th at Nietzsche's oddly enough.  As usual, the paper will say it starts at 6:00 p.m., but I know for a fact the show won't start until 6:30 or whenever someone shows up.  I'll end as soon as I am done and not a second sooner.  Yes, I have that kind of power.  Hope you or someone you know can make it.  Deep down, I hope it's you.  How's that for a personalized mass mailing?

RE: big gigs

This Sunday, August 27, at 11:00 in the a.m., Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields will be playing at the Elmwood Festival of the Arts.  That's right, eleven o'clock in the morning on a Sunday.  We've spoken to the Bishop and attending this performance is just like going to Sunday mass, but with half the guilt.  We're playing on the big stage at Lafayette and Elmwood (that's where the festival starts) and we're the first ones on that day.  So, we'll be starting on time.  If you haven't been, it's a nice festival.  Not crazy crowded like Allentown.

And of course the Big Daddy of 'em all on August 31, 2007, downtown Buffalo and Thursday at the Square, Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields will be opening for Eric Burdon and the Animals.  We're going on bout 6:00 p.m.  That's a Thursday.

Hope to hope to.

Is there any place you'd rather be on a  Friday night in July in Buffalo than the wonderfully air conditioned Nietzsche's?  Me neither.  That's why I'll be playing this Friday, July 21st starting at 6:30 and ending about 9:00 p.m.   Hope you can make it.

RE: 3rd Of July

This just in.  Marty Peters Dangerfield's friend Kenny is having a 3rd of July party on July 3rd and you're invited.  There will be music all night and Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields (at least 4 out of 5 of them) are scheduled to play at 8:00 p.m.  The party starts at 6:00 p.m. and it's BYOB and if you want to bring a dish to pass, that'll be nice.  The party takes place in a parking lot at 5482 Broadway (just past Central Ave.) in Lancaster.  That's right across the street from the Moose Lodge and right between the Mobil station and the Lancaster Boys Club.  So, if you run into any Moose or little boys with gas, you know you're getting warm.  Hope you can make it.  These gigs pop up sporadically throughout the summer and we will try to keep you abreast.  Of course for all your Dangerfield info you can always go to

RE: Allentown Art Festival

This Saturday, June 10th, 6:00 p.m., Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields will be at Nietzsche's during the Allentown Art Festival.  We will not be part of Music is Art because we believe music is music.  Once I tried painting a mural while playing guitar and I got paint on my pants.  And if that isn't reason enough, they don't want us there.  And not being wanted somewhere is a very good reason not to be there.

Also, at Nietzsche's on Friday, June 16th, we'll be playing as part of the Guitar Festival.  I've been told we'll be the headliner for the evening there at Nietzsche's.  Whereas headlining would appear to be quite an honor, it also means we go on last.  Which means a very late night.  Hope you can make it.

RE: stuff

11 years ago, I, Tom Stahl played my first open mic at Nietzsche's.  The only ones there were Michael Meldrum, Nancy Gabriel and myself.  A couple of months ago I did the Monday night showcase at Nietzsche's.  The only ones there were Michael Meldrum, Nancy Gabriel and myself.  On Monday, March 20th, I'll be playing the Monday night showcase at Nietzsche's.  If history is any kind of indicator, the only ones there will be Michael Meldrum, Nancy Gabriel and myself.

If you know anyone in Cleveland, I'll be at the Barking Spider on Saturday, March 25th at 10:00 p.m.

For all other gigs and info, go to the home page at

By the by, Artvoice is having there Best of Buffalo poll.  Somehow, last year I was nominated as one of Buffalo's best vocalists.  It got me to thinking that if I could be nominated for that without  even knowing about it, what would happen if I actually told people to vote for me.  Well, me being the selfless soul that I am, wouldn't do that because I don't think I'm really that great of a vocalist.  That being said and all being right with the universe, I'll ask you to vote in these categories:

Best Rock Band- Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields

Best Acoustic Performer- Tom Stahl

Best Musician- Marty Peters of Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields

Best Entertainer- Tom Stahl

Best Comedian- Tom Stahl

Okay, what the heck, Best Vocalist- Tom Stahl

Best reason to stay in Buffalo- Tom Stahl and the Dangerfields

Be careful of that last one because it's right next to "Best reason to leave Buffalo."  To vote, go to www.Artvoice.com

You'll have to vote in 3o categories to have your vote count, but I think it would be worth it if I were to receive another piece of paper with Mr. Potato Head on it saying I was nominated.  It's a major award.  I'd like to thank everyone in the academy.
